In a time of technological telepathy, everyone's usefulness would be determined solely by who they are, and it wouldn't be so much a matter of who is a better person than the other but how everyone fits together, our place in society being determined by how much we are alike or different from whom. Just by virtue of being part of the continuum of personalities we'd help to connect everyone else through ourselves as part of a smoothly transitioning gradient.
