Being in love is like hypnosis: the hypnotist has no real power over the patient, and it's really the patient hypnotizing themselves. The power that we'd ascribe a loved one is really our own, and is not dependent on them, and can therefore continue without them if that energy finds another object to focus on with as much passion. This is all we need to realize to let them go.
