We have to resist the fearmongering. It spreads like a disease and it's far deadlier than the terror attacks… we have nothing to complain about compared to the victims of the war on terror. The goal of terror is to cause fear and they want us to retaliate, because they don't care if every last Muslim dies as long as it gets them on their side in their holy war. The best way to fight them is to say "So what?" and make them feel as insignificant as they really are.

Don't worry about the terror attacks, worry about lightning strikes. Seriously, let's take a minute of silence for all those thousands of poor people who died from lightning strikes for a minute… done? Alright, now let's take a minute of silence for those poor people who died from peanut allergies… holy cow, 240 more people died in those two minutes of silence and we haven't even gotten started! My family's fine, though I have a few friends who are smokers… thanks for your concern. I hope your friends and family are fine too.

Fight the fear. Terror is only a significant cause of death if it's a trigger for war, and that only happens when it's seen as a threat. And they want war, because they want to unite all Muslims as martyrs. If you give them any pause you give them what they want.

Don't worry, 100,000 Belgians die every year so this makes less of a difference than just about any other cause of death. It's just our reaction to them that makes them seem important and that's what the terrorists want: to seem like a bigger threat than they really are. That's why they're always using really noisy methods. They could kill a lot more people if they did it silently, somewhere in a dark alley, but that wouldn't be as sensational. Their goal isn't to kill us (as if they could make a dent in our numbers!) but to intimidate us, so just don't be intimidated.
