Dream + Analysis

Preceded by S, S stomped around the corner of an aisle with a smile full of pride, and without looking straight at me, tried to push me down. As I fell back, I grabbed her hands and used the energy of her push to swivel her around me and launched her into a shelf of veneer boards. Her smile of pride was gone and replaced by indignation. I had the distinct memory of having done this before.

Analysis: the veneer boards are false fronts, and my launching her into them "put her in her place", symbolising an accusation that her pride is a false front of a deeper insecurity — which according to her expression in the dream is not so much about lack of confidence as about injustice. My memory of having done this before refers to our falling out, in which, when she thought she was pushing me away, I didn't baulk at writing her off as fake. S preceding her reminds me of the fyora in Geneforge the day before, comparing her to a shaper in being arrogant but also having the power to give life. This is the first dream I remember having of S, probably a sign of acceptance of formerly repressed feelings, and therefore a sign of closure. The aikido move in the dream felt intensely satisfying.
